A full-immersion in the region of the Greater Kruger and the Blyde River Canyon, on the path of the worldwide famous Norway in a nutshell. This is an intense itinerary encompassing a variety of excursions and activities for a complete experience in the Lowveld over a short time.
Though this is a self-drive itinerary, it is possible on request to have a private guide. It’s highly advisable to book this option well in advance, especially during the high season (July-September, Christmas and New Year’s Eve, Easter).
The supplement for the private guide doesn’t apply to children (up to 2) who travel with both parents.
And last but not least:
Also included in the supplement for a private guide:
*subject to authorization by park management
In the option with a private guide, even the fourth night will be spent in lodge or bush villa. The entry into the Kruger NP will be by the gate opening time (at dawn), for a full day inside the park. Park fees remain not included. The accommodation in Manyeleti will be at the Ndzaka bushamp, more rustic than Buffelshoek, but also much closer to the main dam. This being the main permanent water source available in the reserve, wildlife is particularly abundant in the area.
Flight Johannesburg-Nelspruit. Pick-up of your vehicle at the airport and transfer to Hoedspruit, driving along the Panorama Route. Highly recommended to stop at God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and, the best of all, Three Rondavels.
Get to Hoedspruit by late afternoon. Accommodation in bushvilla a few steps away from the Blyde River or in a cozy lodge in Hoedspruit. Welcome braai.
After breakfast, visit the Kinyonga Reptile Centre, often used as a support for documentaries. You will find several species of snakes, tortoises and terrapins, iguana and crocodiles. But in fact this is much more than a zoo. A guide will help you to get more information, mainly on snakes.
On request, it possible to get a private guide for a deeper introduction to the fascinating world of reptiles. You will be also encouraged to interact with some harmless species. This experience is very recommended to those who feel a certain repulsion for these creatures. With the right approach and supervision, you will learn quickly to get rid of your false beliefs and irrational phobia. No reason to be scared anymore. The “healing” rate is very close to 100%!
A day fully dedicated to safari, in one or 2 different private game reserves, like Makalali, Kapama, Timbavati or Klaserie. Breakfast and dinner included. Return to your your accommodation by late evening.
The first game drive will be at sunrise and will be followed by a generous breakfast. The afternoon game drive will start around 3:30-4 pm and will end after dark. Dinner at the camp.
Morning at leisure. After breakfast (or lunch), you will enter into the Kruger NP and will drive through your accommodation, at a restcamp in Central Kruger, in the area of Satara. This side of the park has a name for the high density of large predators. Dinner at leisure at the restaurant of the camp, or at your own bungalow if you prefer to cook your own food (grocery available in the camp).
If you wish, you can book a night drive at the reception of your camp.
Self-drive safari in the morning, before heading to the Manyeleti Game Reserve by lunch time. This wild game reserve is just at the corner of the Orpen Gate. The fences with the park were removed long time ago. Guided game drive by open safari vehicle in the afternoon, after lunch. Dinner at the camp. Overnight at the recently renovated Buffelshoek bush camp, the most remote accommodation of Manyeleti.
Guided game drives in the early morning and late afternoon. Overnight at Buffelshoek bush camp.
Last safari in the morning, breakfast and check-out. Drive to the Mpumalanga International Airport (Nelspruit) to return your vehicle and fly to Johannesburg.
