Fly & drive is one of the most popular ways to travel around South Africa and Namibia, offering freedom and flexibility topped with a touch of adventure. We design self-drives with a difference, tailor-made according to our guests’ needs and interests.
Although by definition it may be impossible (or at least not advisable) for self-drivers to access areas that are particularly remote (for this you can join an expedition or ask for a private tour led by expert local guides), we try to design self-drive packages with a difference. This means going off the beaten track as much as possible, overnighting in charming boutique accommodation rather than in large hotels that you could find just anywhere and, last but not least, joining special activities enabling you to get a real feel for an area and not just to see it.
Our skill in designing original tailor-made self-drive safaris comes from our long experience of arranging and leading serious 4×4 expeditions throughout Southern Africa. This means that we are well-acquainted with areas which are normally out of reach to the masses and we can find the right way to make them accessible also to self-drivers.
Self-driving doesn’t necessarily mean improvisation or a lack of organization. You’ll enjoy your journey much more if you don’t have to worry about things you might have to set up in advance (accommodation, very popular activities usually requiring early booking, special interests, etc.), that will just waste your time and not really add to your sense of freedom when traveling around. Save time by organizing everything before leaving, or even when you arrive on site, and you’ll be able to relax and enjoy it more. However, self-driving is probably the right formula for the more independent travelers for whom something unexpected around the corner is seen as intriguing rather than scary.
